Recall Issued For Popular Trader Joe's Fish Product

Thousands of pounds of a popular fish product sold at Trader Joe’s locations in the Northeast are being recalled due to possible undeclared allergens.

The FDA announced that Orca Bay Foods is recalling 4,450 pounds - 356 cases - of 10-ounce retail boxes of Trader Joe's brand Gluten Free Battered Halibut that could potentially contain undeclared wheat and milk.

According to the FDA, anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat and milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

Trader Joe's brand Gluten Free Battered Halibut subject to recall was packed packed in retail carton boxes, and have the code 537312620, and its “Best If Used By” Nov. 5, 2021 is located on the end of the box.

The recalled products were sold in Trader Joe's stores in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, and Wisconsin. 

Officials said the recall was initiated when it was discovered the predicted contained wheat and milk, while the box didn’t list them as ingredients. There have been no illnesses or adverse effects reported to date, according to the FDA.
